The Apostle Paul advises the new church in Corinth and Christians everywhere of the existence of spiritual gifts. He tells us, “Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren I do not want you to be unaware” (1 Corinthians 12:1). He adds, “But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good” (1 Corinthians 12:7). One of his micro messages is for Christians to know who they are and why they are in the body of Christ as it relates to spiritual gifts. The New Testament is about the dispensation of the Holy Spirit who helps Christians to know and exercise their spiritual gifts.

Life as a follower of Christ is not a fifty-yard dash. It’s a marathon. God offers strength for the race, cold water to quench our thirst, and fresh legs when we grow weary. We never run alone. He is always right beside us cheering us on or ahead of us leading the way. Do you need energy and refreshment for the race of life? In Philippians, you will find all you need to run with strength and confidence. If you desire joy beyond measure, perseverance, a servant’s heart, hope for the future, a peace beyond understanding, and lasting contentment, look no further than Philippians.

God created the human body as a finely tuned instrument of enormous power, but it requires fuel to operate. Going without food for spiritual reasons is called fasting, a spiritual discipline with a long and important history in Christianity. When accompanied by earnest prayer, fasting demonstrates a believer’s sincerity to God. This course gives an overview of fasting from the Old and New Testaments and answers basic questions about fasting related to physical health, social interaction, spiritual warfare, and much more.

Required Book: The Beginner’s Guide to Fasting by Elmer L. Towns (2010)
